Everyone can succeed in college. We’re providing the resources to do that.
Hi, my name is Astrid Young and I’m the founder of College Basics 101. I created this site in order to help students succeed in their college journey. As a college student myself, I often found it difficult to obtain reliable, accurate information about the different stages in my college adventure. So I set out to change that.
When I entered college my freshman year, it was at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. With little guidance from the university, and an unclear understanding of college in general, I struggled for my first few semesters. High school had conditioned me to believe that academics would always be a breeze, but college quickly changed my view. However, many mistakes later, I’m a thriving college senior about to graduate from the honors program, with a portfolio including everything from research to internships to membership in a community service sorority.
I’ve made it through successfully, and so can you. Along the way, I’ve accumulated a variety of resources, strategies, and just things I didn’t know before coming to college. So I decided to put it here, on this blog, so that everyone can learn from my experiences.
With this blog, you will learn about:
- Resources to pay for college
- How to improve your academic and personal life
- Things most people don’t know before they enter college
- Improving your career-readiness, starting freshman year
- Developing healthy lifestyle habits to help you thrive in college and beyond
At College Basics 101, we’re providing accurate, up-to-date information to use throughout your college journey. Whether you’re a high school student starting to think about your future or a current college student looking to improve your academic and personal life, College Basics 101 has tips, tricks, and resources to help you succeed. I hope that you will take a look around this sight, and I look forward to helping you through your college journey!
